Regular checks (interrogations) are needed for these devices (pacemakers, ICDs). The frequency of your evaluation will be determined by your individual needs and type of device. By identifying problems in advance, we are able to maximize your pacemaker function. Devices can last 5 to 10 years. 

What to expect:

A telemetry “wand” is used to assess the function of the lead wires from the device to the heart, that the battery level is ok, and assess if any abnormal heart rhythms occurred. Your pacer check will take about 10 to 15 minutes. The pacer technician will determine how often you will need to be evaluated.
